(NewsNation) — HBO Max is returning to streaming this summer.
Warner Bros. Discovery announced that Max is being rebranded back to HBO Max at their Upfront presentation on Tuesday.
“The powerful growth we have seen in our global streaming service is built around the quality of our programming,” David Zaslav, President and CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery, said in a press release. “Today, we are bringing back HBO, the brand that represents the highest quality in media, to further accelerate that growth in the years ahead.”
Warner Bros. Discovery says returning the HBO brand to HBO Max will further drive the service forward and amplify the uniqueness that subscribers can expect from the offering. They also acknowledged the rebrand is credited to the company’s willingness to keep iterating its strategy and approach, which leans heavily on consumer data and insights.
“We will continue to focus on what makes us unique — not everything for everyone in a household, but something distinct and great for adults and families,” added JB Perrette, Warner Bros. Discovery president and CEO of streaming. “It’s really not subjective, not even controversial — our programming just hits different.”
Warner Bros. Discovery streaming has generated $3 billion in just two years and added 22 million subscribers over the past year. They project to have over 150 million-plus subscribers by the end of 2026.
