(NewsNation) — It’s been over a year, and Venus Williams finally confirmed her engagement to actor Andrea Preti after a triumphant tennis return at Wimbledon.

In a post-match interview posted on X, Williams said: “My fiance is here. He really encouraged me to keep playing. Do you know how hard it is to play tennis? It’s 9 to 5 except you’re running the whole time.” 

Of course, insiders say she kind of had to finally admit her engagement (after wearing a huge engagement ring on her left ring finger for over a year) as “she’s getting married in two months.”

As I reported last week, Williams spent the first week of this month celebrating her bachelorette party on board a yacht sailing around Menorca with several friends, her sisters and other family members … and that the wedding to Preti will take place on Italy’s Amalfi Coast in September.
