(NewsNation) — “Twilight” author Stephenie Meyer has teased that she has more books in the series planned, but it may not come out until after she dies.
Meyer sat down with “Good Morning America” on Wednesday when she said she wants to continue the story of Bella Swan and Edward Cullen, who were portrayed by Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson, respectively.
“I have other stories outlined that I don’t know if we’ll ever get to,” she said. “I’ll have somebody, you know, disseminate (my outlines) after my death if I never get around to it. But for me, the stories go on.”
It’s been 20 years since Meyer wrote “Twilight,” something she said she doesn’t “know how to process.”
“I wasn’t expecting fans when I started this. To be back here and still have people care, I mean, it’s really, really flattering. But I never expect that to last. It’s bizarre to me,” the author said.
20 years of ‘Twilight’
She released three other books in the franchise, “New Moon” (2006), “Eclipse” (2007), and “Breaking Dawn” (2008).
The books were adapted into five films, which grossed over $3.3 billion.
The movies launched Pattinson and Stewart into big-name actors, having starred in numerous films.
In celebration of the series’ 20th anniversary, the movies will return to theaters in October.
