(NewsNation) — Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs may have blown it at the Super Bowl, but it could be the best thing for his relationship with Taylor Swift.
Taylor Swift, Travis Kelce at crossroads
Both stars are at a crossroads — Swift’s epic “Eras” tour is over and Kelce’s Chiefs lost miserably to the Philadelphia Eagles in the Super Bowl, which has him questioning his career.
Travis, while chatting with his brother Jason on his “New Heights” podcast, alluded to the “wear and tear” on his body and kept the retirement question open.
“I know everybody wants to know whether I am playing next year, and right now, I am just kicking everything down the road. I am kicking every can I can down the road,” Kelce said. “I am not making any crazy decisions, but right now the biggest thing is just being there for my teammates and being there for my coaches, understanding there’s a lot that goes into this thing. I’ve been fortunate over the past five, six years, I’ve played more football than anybody.
“The fact that we keep going to these AFC Championships and Super Bowls, that means I’m playing an extra three games more than everybody else in the entire league. That’s a lot of wear and tear on your body.”

But while Kelce struggles — it could oddly be good for their relationship.
As one insider said: “Listen, Taylor and Travis have had a whirlwind relationship — but you don’t really know who someone is until you’ve seen them sad, mad or down. If they can get through this together — they’re going to be stronger than ever.”
A sentiment Travis’ dad Ed seems to agree with. Talking to Australia’s “Today” show, Ed said the two were looking forward to spending time together out of the spotlight and said, “I think we get past the Super Bowl, I think it’s going to be a very good period for the two of them without the NFL season, with the Eras Tour… Just them alone, really connecting more. And I think that can only be a good thing.”
If the power couple can get through this lull, they will likely be engaged by the end of the year, sources said. Swift and Travis, both 35, have both said they want children, and what better time to start a family when neither are on the road?

Meanwhile, even without football, Kelce will be okay. His New Heights podcast with brother Jason is one of the most popular in America – and the brothers just signed a three-year deal with Wondery worth $100 million, he is also set to appear in “Happy Gilmore 2” and “Loose Cannons” and last year appeared in “Grotesquerie” and hosted “Are You Smarter Than A Celebrity?”
As for Swift, she is said to be working on new music. Of course.
