(NewsNation) — A bakery in California has recalled two bundt cakes due to the potential presence of undeclared ingredients. One of the cakes is a favorite of and commonly gifted by one of Hollywood’s biggest stars, Tom Cruise.
The Food and Drug Administration announced on Oct. 1 that Doan’s Bakery of Woodland Hills, California, is recalling its White Chocolate Coconut and Carrot Bundt Cakes because they may contain undeclared wheat and milk.
The announcement states that people with allergies or severe sensitivities to wheat and/or milk “run the risk of experiencing a serious or life-threatening reaction if they consume these products.”
The issue with the cakes was discovered during a “routine facility inspection” on Sept. 24. Doan’s bakery has since updated the labels of the affected cakes, and no allergies or illnesses in connection with the recall have been reported so far.
The cakes were distributed nationwide from June 1 through Sept. 24 through goldbelly.com. The White Chocolate Coconut Cake is available for purchase for $109.95, and the carrot cake is available for $105.95 on the site.
Customers with wheat and/or milk allergies who purchased the cakes are advised not to consume them and can contact support@goldbelly.com for assistance.
A ‘personal favorite’ of Tom Cruise
On goldbelly.com, the White Chocolate Coconut Cake is described as the bakery’s “most famous creation,” and as a “coveted gift each year among Hollywood’s A-List celebs.”
The site also mentions that the cake is a “personal favorite of one famous actor,” which all signs point to being Tom Cruise.
Cruise is notorious for gifting the cake to fellow A-listers during the holiday season. A 2021 Spectrum News segment highlighted Cruise as a customer of Doan’s bakery and featured a montage of celebrities discussing the tradition of receiving the famed cake from Cruise.
Goldbelly.com lists several famous recipients of the cake, including: Barbara Walters, Jimmy Fallon, Cobie Smulders, Kirsten Dunst, Henry Cavill, James Corden and Angela Bassett.
