(NewsNation) — Todd Chrisley and Julie Chrisley, who were recently pardoned by President Donald Trump, opened up about seeing one another again during an interview with ABC News.
The couple were previously in jail, serving time for bank fraud and tax evasion. Todd Chrisley was serving time at the Pensacola Federal Prison Camp in Florida with an original sentencing of 12 years. Julie Chrisley was serving her sentence at the Federal Medical Center Lexington in Lexington, Kentucky.
In the ABC interview, Todd Chrisley said, “And you know, for me, it’s just weird because she was never away from me. Even the whole time we were apart. She was with me every second, every breath that I took.”
He also said, “I mean, when I saw her, I was grateful to wrap my arms around her, but it was just more like, ‘I’m home.'”
Julie Chrisley says there were ‘tears’ at reunion with Todd Chrisley
Julie Chrisley also spoke about the reunion, saying there was “laughter and tears.” And the first thing that the duo did together was dinner with their family.
“You know, we get to start over,” Todd Chrisley said. He also said that sleeping in his own bed was “heaven” and being able to shower whenever they wanted was thrilling. The couple agreed, however, that the most emotional moment was reuniting with their 12-year-old daughter, Chloe.
“Even though we had gotten to see each other [during visits], it’s not the same as when you’re home,” Julie Chrisley explained. “On our way home, she was literally watching on her phone… to know how close I was. So I think it was just — it was a special moment.”
Todd Chrisley on getting sentenced: ‘I was so angry with God’
Todd Chrisley also recently spoke with Lara Trump about his and his wife’s sentencing, telling her, “I remember going in and that night, I was so angry with God… I literally cried myself to sleep because it’s the first time Julie and I have ever been away from each other since we had been married.”
He also reflected on his children, saying, “I’d never not been in that house when my kids woke up in the morning or when they went to bed at night.”
Chrisley then said that God had come to him in a dream, recalling, “I look back on that dream now and I now understand when he said, ‘When you leave they will rise,’ because they’re rising through President Trump. So I am grateful for that.”
