‘MasterChef,’ TikTok star Yanin Campos dies in fatal car crash

(NewsNation) — Yanin Campos, a “MasterChef” contestant and TikTok personality, has died at the age of 38, according to her family.

Campos, 38, was driving in the city of Chihuahua when her car collided with a parked vehicle, according to the Mexican Secretariat of Public Security.

Campos’ brother, Raul, confirmed her passing on Facebook, according to People.com.

“To family and friends. We inform and mourn the death of my sister Yanin Campos,” he said in a post.

Campos gained notoriety following her 2018 appearance on “MasterChef México,” where she placed sixth for her culinary expertise. She also appeared on “MasterChef México: La Revancha.” After her television stints, Campos transitioned to posting lifestyle content on her social media pages.

Campos had amassed more than 100,000 followers on TikTok.

Authorities are investigating whether excessive speed or distracted driving caused the crash.
