(NewsNation) — “The Simpsons” are returning to the big screen after 20 years.
Disney’s 20th Century announced a sequel to “The Simpsons Movie” for the legendary cartoon family, slated for release in July 2027.
The film is replacing an untitled Marvel project.
The original “The Simpsons Movie” was released in July 2007 and was a smash at the box office, earning $536 million globally.
“The Simpsons” remains the longest-running animated series and television sitcom going. The program has already been renewed through its 40th season, set to air during 2028 and 2029.
