(NewsNation) Teddi Mellencamp said that her family is “unharmed” after an attempted break-in to her Los Angeles home on Monday.

The former “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star posted on Instagram following the attempted burglary.

“We are grateful that everyone is unharmed. While we are shaken, we are fortunate to have the latest in home security systems which scared off the intruders,” she and her estranged husband, Edward Arroyave, wrote. “Authorities were alerted and swiftly responded. We appreciate everyone’s heightened concern in light of recent criminal activities in our area, but we are safe.”

Mellencamp and Arroyave were home with their four children at the time of the incident, according to KNBC.

Arroyave told the outlet that three people jumped their home’s gate, which set off their alarm system, while two of them tried to enter a side door.

They fled the scene after 20 seconds, according to Arroyave.

“By the time we came down, they had already run out,” he said. “But I just saw, obviously, the doors open at the house and stuff.”

In Monday’s break-in, Arroyave credits the home’s alarm system in scaring the intruders away. He is the founder and CEO of Skyline Security Management, and posted video on Instagram appearing the show the intruders.
