NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Superstar Taylor Swift’s company, Firefly Entertainment, could be buying the giant friendship bracelet that was placed on the Caesars Superdome for Swift’s Eras Tour in New Orleans.
According to sources with the Superdome, Firefly Entertainment plans on buying the bracelet for $13,000. The item was on the agenda at Thursday’s Louisiana Sports and Exposition District meeting but was deferred.
The next step is that the item needs to be approved by the Louisiana Sports and Exposition District at a later meeting.
According to the meeting’s agenda, Taylor Swift’s company would be responsible for the pickup, shipment and delivery of the bracelet.
It was back in October of last year during Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour, a giant 140-foot friendship bracelet was placed on the Superdome.
Shortly after the sold-out shows, it was announced that the giant bracelet, which brought “Swifties” so much joy, would be for sale.
Even Swift noticed the giant friendship bracelets that hung on the sides of the Superdome.
“I roll into New Orleans and there’s a giant friendship bracelet on the outside of the stadium, you did that,” she said.
Shawn Kolodny, artist with “Big Shiny Balls” and Kolossal Arts created the giant bracelet, and NewsNation affiliate WGNO’s Kenny Lopez interviewed him last October.
Kolodny is a Miami-based artist who jumped at the chance to make giant Taylor Swift bracelets for the Superdome when they called and asked. He only had about four weeks to execute everything.
“The beads with the letters on them are 7-feet a piece and the band is 140 feet long,” Kolodny said.
He went on to say, “It is similar to a bounce house, filled with air pressure. Hidden up on the roof there was a series of pumps that supply the air.”
No word yet on how Swift’s company plans on using the friendship bracelet.
