(NewsNation) — Taylor Swift has been drawn deeper into the Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni drama after his lawyer requested that she be deposed in the ongoing legal case.

In a letter to the court obtained by NewsNation, Swift’s attorney Doug Baurch wrote that the “1989” singer, “did not agree” to testify in the case and does not play a “material role” in the matter.

Baldoni’s lawyer Bryan Freedman wrote to Judge Lewis J. Liman, who’s presiding over the case, on Thursday, Sept. 11, that Swift “has agreed to appear for deposition.”

Swift learned of the request for a deposition three days ago but would sit down for one if she were legally forced to do so, Swift’s team said in the letter to Liman.

Baldoni’s team requested that Swift’s deposition be held the week of Oct. 20, a few weeks after the release of her 12th studio album “The Life of a Showgirl.”

Taylor Swift and Blake Lively’s friendship on ice

According to NewsNation’s Paula Froelich, Swift and Lively’s friendship has been strained because the singer was mentioned twice in Baldoni’s now-thrown-out countersuit against Lively.

First when Lively, texting Baldoni, compared herself to Khaleesi from “Game of Thrones,” writing: “If you ever get around to watching Game of Thrones, you’ll appreciate that I’m Khaleesi, and like her, I happen to have a few dragons. For better or worse, but usually better. Because my dragons also protect those I fight for. So really we all benefit from those gorgeous monsters of mine. You will too, I can promise you.” (Swift and Lively’s husband Ryan Reynolds being the dragons).

In another incident, Swift was told to appear at Lively’s apartment during a meeting the actress had with Baldoni — and “innocently” said she loved Lively’s draft of the infamous rooftop scene.

“Taylor is annoyed she was brought into this,” a source told Froelich in January. “She was supporting her friend — and went to her house to hang out, and now that (hangout) is part of (Baldoni’s) lawsuit. It’s a lot.”

Lively and Baldoni co-starred in the movie “It Ends With Us.” In December of 2024, Lively filed a lawsuit against Baldoni, who also served as the movie’s director, for alleged sexual harassment and creating a hostile environment on the movie set. She also alleged Baldoni orchestrated a smear campaign against her.
