(NewsNation) — American snowboarding gold medalist Chloe Kim revealed she dislocated her shoulder less than a month before the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan.
In a video posted on her Instagram Thursday, Kim said she’s been in Switzerland training ahead of the final World Cup at LAAX when she took the “silliest fall” while snowboarding.
Kim then included a video, showing her landing a trick before attempting to snowboard up the face of the ramp where she ended up crashing face-first into the wall, seemingly landing on her arm and sliding back down.
“And that ultimately resulted in me dislocating my shoulder,” she said.

In her post’s caption, she wrote, “Trying to stay positive through these moments so difficult. I have gone through so many waves of emotions I literally have a migraine. The only thing I can do is rest/do everything in my power to come back as soon as possible.”
Kim said she has an MRI planned for Jan. 9 and will “have a better idea of what’s going on.”
Chloe Kim aims to make history
The snowboarder won Olympic gold in the women’s halfpipe at both the 2018 PyeongChang and 2022 Beijing Games.
If Kim competes at this year’s Olympics, she has a chance to make history as the first person to “three-peat” if she wins another gold medal.
