Snow White star Rachel Zegler ‘too dangerous to touch’ in Hollywood: Insider

(NewsNation) — Rachel Zegler is learning the hard way the old lesson that sometimes it’s better to keep your opinions to yourself.

While the “Snow White” actress has flown over to London to head up the West End production of “Evita” at the Palladium, she has zero other projects in the works, with nothing listed on IMDB — strange, as after heading up Steven Spielberg’s “West Side Story” and Disney’s live action “Snow White,” she should be in demand.

But she’s not. She has zero upcoming projects listed on IMDB.

”She is too dangerous to touch,” my spy said. ”She doesn’t know when to shut up. After this and what happened to ‘Emilia Perez,’ studios are going to be a lot more careful hiring lead actresses.”

”Emilia Perez” was considered an Oscar favorite until old tweets that were considered racist and offensive from the movie’s star, Karla Sofia Gascon, emerged, effectively sinking the movie’s Oscar shot.

Rachel Zegler allegedly causes drama as premiere approaches

Zegler caused a lot of drama in the run-up to this week’s “Snow White” premiere, with constant comments that undermined the movie and the studio.

As I noted in last week’s column, Zegler put herself in an awkward position after being awarded the role by criticizing the beloved original.

As she told “Extra” in 2022, the animated film was “extremely dated when it comes to the ideas of women being in roles of power and what a woman’s fit for in the world…The original cartoon came out in 1937, and very evidently so. There’s a big focus on her love story with a guy who literally stalks her. Weird. So we didn’t do that this time… We have a different approach to what I’m sure a lot of people will assume is a love story just because we cast a guy in the movie.”

Rachel Zegler, Gal Gadot on Gaza war

Fans weren’t the only ones offended. Her “Snow White” co-star, Gal Gadot, who was devastated by the Hamas attacks on Israel on Oct. 7, 2023, is said to be furious with her co-star for publicly supporting Gaza.

Last August, Zegler posted on X: “Free Palestine!” — the first of several similar posts on the outlet — and said in interviews: “I can’t watch children die. I don’t think that should be a hot take… We’re nearing one year since the horrendous attacks in Israel on Oct. 7, but I’ve been following this conflict for so many years. Like so many people, I’m so heartbroken by the loss of life that we’re seeing with these insane death tolls coming out of both regions.”

As I pointed out — this didn’t sit well with Gadot.

A source even told People later that Zegler “has nothing in common” with her ‘Snow White’ costar Gal Gadot, a 39-year-old mother of four. And “on top of that their political views differ, adding to the tension.”

Disney even tried to get Zegler’s management to talk to the actress and tone it down — to no avail.

Rachel Zegler ‘out of control’: Insider

Sources told Page Six that Disney “doesn’t know what to do” with “out of control” Zegler.

“Disney’s lead actress is out of control. They don’t know what to do,” an insider told the outlet.

“She’s an outspoken 20-something and Disney chiefs have called her directly and asked her to tone down her posts. They’ve called her management, but she won’t listen.”

The insider added, “It’s been this way the entire way through filming. But it’s the tying of her politics to ‘Snow White’ that is upsetting.”

Rachel Zegler allegedly annoyed with white execs who ‘have you prove your identity’

Adding to Hollywood’s ire is that Zegler seemed to take potshots at beloved director Steven Spielberg in her latest interview in Allure magazine.

Zegler told the outlet: “There’s confusion because I don’t have a single ounce of Latin in my name. When I was in the running for María in ‘West Side Story,‘ they kept calling to ask if I was legit. I remember thinking, Do you want me to bring my ‘abuelita’ in? I will. I’ll bring her into the studio if you want to meet her.” Zegler then expressed her annoyance at “having a bunch of white executives have you prove your identity to them.”

None of which has endeared her to movie execs who want an actress to perform in their movies and not endanger their bottom line … or slam them.
