(NewsNation) — Sabrina Carpenter blasted the White House for using her hit song in a video montage of ICE raids.
“This video is evil and disgusting. Do not ever involve me or my music to benefit your inhumane agenda,” the Grammy winner said in a post on X.
The video takes the lyric where Carpenter asks about sex positions (“Have you ever tried this one?”) and plays it over people being handcuffed, tackled and more by ICE agents.
The Trump Administration has routinely used songs from pop stars in its videos to promote its political agendas.
Olivia Rodrigo slams ‘racist, hateful propaganda’
In November, Olivia Rodrigo criticized the Trump administration after government Instagram accounts used her song “All American B—-” in a video urging undocumented immigrants to leave the country.
“Don’t ever use my songs to promote your racist, hateful propaganda,” she said.
Taylor Swift stays quiet on White House’s use of ‘The Fate of Ophelia’
The White House used Taylor Swift’s “The Fate of Ophelia” in a pro-Trump TikTok video celebrating him.
Trump has used social media to bash Swift, saying earlier this summer on Truth Social, “Has anyone noticed that, since I said ‘I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT,’ she’s no longer ‘HOT?’”
Unlike Rodrigo and Carpenter, Swift has not commented on the White House using one of her songs in its post.
Ahead of the 2024 presidential election, Swift endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris and called out Trump for using artificial intelligence with her likeness.
“Recently I was made aware that AI of ‘me’ falsely endorsing Donald Trump’s presidential run was posted to his site,” Swift wrote in an Instagram post. “It really conjured up my fears around AI, and the dangers of spreading misinformation.”
