(NewsNation) — Rush, the legendary Canadian rock band, is set to return to the stage next year.
The band announced it will be reuniting for a 2026 summer tour, “Fifty Something,” which will be a “celebration of Rush’s music, legacy, and the life of late drummer and lyricist Neil Peart.”
Peart died from glioblastoma, a form of brain cancer, five years ago. In Peart’s place will be Anika Nilles, a German composer and producer who previously toured with Jeff Beck.
“It’s been over 10 years since Alex and I have performed the music of Rush alongside our fallen bandmate and friend Neil,” Rush co-founder Geddy Lee said in a statement.
“A lifetime’s worth of songs that we had put our cumulative hearts and souls into writing, recording and playing together onstage. And so, after all that has gone down since that last show, Alex and I have done some serious soul searching and come to the decision that we f***ing miss it, and that it’s time for a celebration of 50-something years of RUSH music,” Lee added.
The tour will begin in Los Angeles and make stops in Mexico City, Fort Worth, Texas, Chicago, New York and Toronto before ending in Cleveland.
In early 2025, the group released a greatest hits collection, “Rush 50.” The album features the last songs the band played at their final concert 10 years ago.
