(NewsNation) — The death certificates for Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, were released over a week after their deaths.

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health released the documents Tuesday, which NewsNation is working to obtain, but according to a report, the Reiners died within “minutes” of receiving “multiple sharp force injuries” with a “knife, by another.”

The Reiners’ bodies were cremated at Mount Sinai Mortuary, and their remains were returned to their 34-year-old son, Jake Reiner.

Their other son, Nick Reiner, was arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree murder with special circumstances, in connection with his parents’ deaths.

Nick Reiner has hired Alan Jackson as his attorney. Jackson’s other clients have included Kevin Spacey and Karen Read.

The Reiners were found dead in their Los Angeles home on Dec. 14.

Nick Reiner is currently being held without bail as he awaits arraignment, which is set for Jan. 7.

Recent reports suggest Nick suffered from schizophrenia and was being treated by a psychiatrist in the weeks leading up to his parents’ murders.

He could face life in prison or potentially the death penalty if he’s convicted on all charges.

Memorial services for Rob and Michele Reiner in the works

The couple’s two children, Jake and Romy Reiner, released a statement explaining that they “remain grateful for the outpouring of love and support they have received.”

“They will share information about a memorial service honoring their parents at a later date,” the statement continued.
