(KTLA) — Los Angeles police arrested musician Ray J early Thursday morning after his ex-wife, Princess Love, told officers he pointed a gun at her during a heated argument that unfolded on a livestream, according to information released by LAPD.

Officers were dispatched around 3:55 a.m. to the 20000 block of Birmingham Way for a report of an assault with a deadly weapon and domestic violence. According to LAPD, Love told police that Ray J — identified as William Ray Norwood Jr. — pulled a firearm on her during the confrontation. She also reported a history of domestic violence and said the dispute escalated over her plans to leave the home with their children.

Responding officers recovered a firearm along with additional weapons at the residence, LAPD said. Ray J was arrested on suspicion of making criminal threats and booked into the Van Nuys jail. As of Thursday afternoon, a Sheriff’s Information Bureau spokesperson said records indicated he remained in custody.

The events leading up to the arrest were also captured in a livestream that was later shared across social media. In the footage, Ray J can be heard accusing Love and others of trying to “drive drunk.” At one point, Love appears on camera holding their daughter, telling Ray J, “you just pointed a gun at us,” as he denies it.

The former couple, who share two children, argue as Ray J continues referencing alcohol and accuses Love’s relatives of being intoxicated. In the video, Love tells him, “All I wanted to do was have a good Thanksgiving,” while also accusing him of being “a woman abuser.”

TMZ reported that during the same livestream, Ray J appeared to grab a handgun from a table and load it, saying, “If these n—– step foot close to this door I’m going to blow this f—ing s— away, bro.” The outlet also reported audio of Ray J allegedly threatening another man off-camera, including statements such as “I’ll kill you” and “Get out of my house before I shoot you right now.”

Ray J, 44, and Love, 41, married in 2016. Love filed for divorce for the fourth time in February 2024.

LAPD did not release additional details about the incident.
