(KTLA) — Chart-topping rapper Fetty Wap is saying “hey, what’s up, hello” to freedom, as he has been released from federal prison earlier than expected.

The New Jersey native — birth name William Junior Maxwell II — was released from a Minnesota prison on Thursday, 11 months ahead of expected, the Los Angeles Times reports. The 34 year-old artist is best known for hits like “Trap Queen,” “My Way” and “679.”

He was arrested in 2021 just before he was set to play a set at the Rolling Loud festival in New York. He pleaded guilty to drug distribution charges the next year.

Though he’s now out of prison, still faces home confinement and up to five years of supervision.

“I want to thank my family, friends, and fans for the love, prayers, and continued support — it truly means everything to me,” the hitmaker said in a statement to CNN.

“Fetty Wap is in good spirits,” his publicist, Abesi Manyando, added to the outlet. “He is in a focused, grounded place. His priorities are his family, fatherhood, music and being an asset to his community.”
