Prince Harry surprises Stephen Colbert’s late-night show with a Trump joke

(NewsNation) — Prince Harry made a surprise appearance on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” and took a playful jab at President Donald Trump.

On Wednesday, during host Stephen Colbert’s monologue discussing “problematic” royal-themed Christmas movies, the Duke of Sussex walked onto the stage, greeted with rapturous applause from the audience.

A “lost” Harry said he was looking to audition for the fictional Hallmark-type film “The Gingerbread Christmas Prince Saves Christmas in Nebraska,” when Colbert asked him why a prince would audition for the movie.

“You Americans are obsessed with Christmas movies, and you’re clearly obsessed with royalty, so why not?” said the Duke of Sussex.

Harry added, when Colbert jokingly pushed back at the thought that Americans are obsessed with royalty, “Really? I hear you elected a king.”

Trump refers to himself as king

The jab was most likely in reference to the president referring to himself as a king in a Truth Social post in February regarding congestion pricing in New York.

“CONGESTION PRICING IS DEAD. Manhattan and all of New York, is SAVED,” he wrote. “LONG LIVE THE KING.”

The White House’s official Instagram page had posted a fake Time magazine cover of Trump wearing a crown.

In response to Trump referring to himself as a king, “No Kings” protests emerged across the country in June and October, with protesters alleging that his policies are anti-democratic and the country is drifting into authoritarianism.
