Prince Harry speaks out after Sentebale scandal report released

(NewsNation) — Prince Harry is speaking out following the end of an investigation into a nonprofit he co-founded almost 20 years ago, saying that despite being cleared, the scrutiny has caused damage.

The Charity Commission for England and Wales revealed Tuesday that it did not find evidence of “widespread or systemic bullying, harassment, misogyny or misogynoir” at Sentebale, according to People magazine.

The charity’s chair, Dr. Sophie Chandauka, made those accusations.

Harry established the charity alongside Prince Seeiso of Lesotho.

The commission did not find any “overreach” by Harry and Chandauka.

“Unsurprisingly, the Commission makes no findings of wrongdoing in relation to Sentebale’s Co-Founder and former Patron, Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex,” a spokesperson for Harry told People, adding that Chandauka’s accusations were false.

Prince Harry steps down

In March, Harry stepped down as Sentebale’s patron after what he described as a breakdown in leadership.

Seeiso and Harry reportedly don’t see how they can come back to the charity if Chandauka is there, a source told People.

Following the investigation’s closing Tuesday, Harry’s spokesperson told People, “Despite all that, their report falls troublingly short in many regards, primarily the fact that the consequences of the current Chair’s actions will not be borne by her — but by the children who rely on Sentebale’s support.”

The commission opened its investigation in April.

According to its website, Sentebale works to provide opportunities and holistic care to kids and young people in southern Africa, according to its website.
