(NewsNation) — Prince Harry returned to the UK on the anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II’s death to work with charities, amid an ongoing rift with Prince William and King Charles.
The Duke of Sussex arrived at Children in Need on Tuesday, a charity in Nottingham, to announce a nearly $1.5 million donation to the organization, according to the Independent.
The money will be used to support grassroots organizations to help young people affected by violence.
Prince Harry alludes to tension with Prince William
Prince Harry attended the WellChild awards on Monday night, speaking to sick children about their accomplishments.
He reportedly spoke about “challenging” sibling relationships, the Independent reported.
Despite this being the first UK visit in five months for Harry, there are no plans that he will meet with Prince William. However, it isn’t clear that he will meet with King Charles, whom he hasn’t seen face-to-face in a year and a half.
Prince Harry hasn’t seen King Charles in over a year
Harry last saw his father in February 2024, following Charles’ cancer diagnosis, according to NewsNation’s Paula Froelich, and only spent a short amount of time with him.
A source told People last year that King Charles was no longer taking Harry’s calls or responding to his letters.
“He gets ‘unavailable right now,’” a friend of Harry’s told the magazine in July 2024. “His calls go unanswered. He has tried to reach out about the King’s health, but those calls go unanswered too.”
An insider told Froelich that when Harry visited the UK in April for a court appeal on a ruling that withdrew his right to police protection, he was given the cold shoulder by Charles.
“There was a window where King Charles and Harry could have met,” the insider told Froelich,“but they didn’t.”
Despite the ongoing rift, speculation grew in July that the two would reconcile after senior aides from Harry and Charles met in London.
