(NEXSTAR) – Melanie Hamrick, the longtime girlfriend of Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger, revealed to a French publication that Jagger has given her an engagement ring — but it doesn’t necessarily mean they’re planning to be married.

In an interview with Paris Match, Hamrick, 37, said she had been wearing the ring for years. She was then asked specifically if there are plans for a wedding in the future.

“Maybe one day, maybe not,” Hamrick responded, per a translation. “We’re so happy in our current life that I’d be too afraid to change anything.”

Jagger, 81, has been in a relationship with Hamrick, a former ballerina and the author of the novel “First Position,” since 2014. The pair are parents to son Devereaux, who was born in 2016.

Speaking with Paris Match, Hamrick recalled meeting Jagger for the first time in Tokyo, but said he was in a relationship at the time. They didn’t connect until several months later, when he texted her and asked to go for coffee, she told the outlet.

The couple now split their time between England, France, the Caribbean and Italy, she said. Hamrick further claimed that Jagger also tries to get Deveraux and his seven other children together “as often as possible.”

“We try to support each other, be there for each other, and make sure each other is happy. That’s all that matters to me and all I’m looking for,” she told Paris Match.

Jagger has been married only once, in the ‘70s, to Bianca Jagger, but has also had several high-profile relationships with partners including Marianne Faithfull, model Jerry Hall and fashion designer L’Wren Scott.
