(NewsNation) — Years after exchanging acting for the royal life, Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, is making her way back to the big screen.

Meghan will appear in Amazon MGM’s “Close Personal Friends,” alongside Brie Larson, Lily Collins, Jack Quaid and Henry Golding, according to People magazine.

Meghan was seen on the Pasadena, California, film set Wednesday and is reportedly playing herself in the movie.

“She has a small part. She seemed very relaxed and happy,” an insider told People. “She introduced herself to everyone and was very sweet and down-to-earth.”

“Close Personal Friends” will follow a “couple that meets and befriends a celebrity couple while on a trip to Santa Barbara. Personal lines get crossed, among other things, and awkward hilarity ensues,” according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Meghan Markle left ‘Suits’ 8 years ago

It’s been eight years since Meghan left her role on the TV show “Suits,” after announcing her engagement to Britain’s Prince Harry.

She has been offered numerous acting roles in recent years, but the “Close Personal Friends” role “felt right,” a source told The Sun, which first reported the news.

  • Brie Larson in a scene from Lessons in Chemistry
  • Meghan waves to the crowd at the Invictus Games

“It is Meghan’s way of gently putting her toe back in the water and seeing how she enjoys being back on set,” the source said. “Everyone involved is super-excited, and have been sworn to secrecy about her involvement.”

Meghan Markle’s Netflix partnership

While the role is the first time in nearly a decade that Meghan will act on-screen, it isn’t her first foray back into the entertainment space since stepping away.

Meghan and Harry extended their partnership with Netflix in August, which will include a first-look deal for film and television projects.

“We’re proud to extend our partnership with Netflix and expand our work together to include the As Ever brand,” Meghan told People at the time. “My husband and I feel inspired by our partners who work closely with us and our Archewell Productions team to create thoughtful content across genres that resonates globally, and celebrates our shared vision.”
