(NewsNation) — Former NFL quarterback Mark Sanchez has been let go from his job at Fox Sports, a month after being charged with a felony over an alleged stabbing incident.

Sanchez is no longer with the network, a Fox Sports spokesperson confirmed to NewsNation affiliate WXIN.

“We can confirm that Mark Sanchez is no longer with the network. There will be no further comment at this time,” the spokesperson said.

The former New York Jets quarterback was hospitalized when he was allegedly stabbed by a truck driver in downtown Indianapolis on Oct. 4.

Truck driver claims self defense against Mark Sanchez

The truck driver, Perry Tole, said he was acting in self-defense, claiming that the former Fox Sports analyst attacked him in an alley.

Following his release, Sanchez was arrested on Oct. 5 and charged with battery resulting in serious bodily injury, a felony, and battery resulting in bodily injury, unauthorized entry of a motor vehicle, and public intoxication that endangers the life of another, all misdemeanors.

In his first on-camera appearance since his hospitalization, Sanchez addressed WXIN’s Russ McQuaid while exiting the Marion County Community Justice Campus, expressing that his priority is now on recovery.

“I’m just focused on my recovery and I just want to thank the first responders, Eskanazi hospital, (the) Marion County Sheriff, and the Indianapolis Police Department, metro PD,” Sanchez said. “But I’m focused on my recovery, and I just want to see my wife, I want to see my son, my two baby girls.”

“There’ll be a day to answer all these questions, and unfortunately, today is not that day,” he added.

Tole filed a lawsuit in October against Sanchez and Fox Corporation, alleging that Fox Sports “knew or should have known about Defendant Sanchez’s unfitness as an employee, propensity for drinking and/or harmful conduct.”
