SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) — He is the youngest person ever to get the job, and after several years behind the scenes, writer and comedian Josh Johnson will host ‘The Daily Show‘ on Comedy Central.

The Louisiana native and Centenary College graduate shared the news on Facebook, saying, “I’ve spent years writing behind the scenes, learning from truly great and talented people. Now, for three nights, I get to sit at the desk and do it myself. This doesn’t happen without you, the friends who’ve shown up, shared the work, and kept building this with me.”

Johnson joined ‘The Daily Show’ as a writer in 2017 and became a correspondent in February 2024. Prior to his role on the nightly program, Johnson made his late-night debut as a writer and performer on NBC’s ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.’ In 2015, Comedy Central named him one of the comics to watch. The stand-up comedian also released two specials on Comedy Central and Peacock.

He will host ‘The Daily Show’ Tuesday and Thursday editions this week. He joins a group of rotating anchors who have filled in since Jon Stewart took over Monday nights. Guest anchors include Ronny Chieng, Jordan Klepper, Michael Kosta, and Desi Lydic. This will mark the comedian’s first time hosting the show.

You can see Johnson anchor the show starting on Tuesday, July 22, at 11:00 p.m. ET. His guests for the week he’s anchoring include ‘Great Black Hope’ author Rob Franklin, singer Samara Cyn, and Happy Gilmore 2 actor Christopher McDonald.
