(NewsNation) — Pop star Lizzo shared details about her weight loss journey and her experience with the weight loss drug in a recent podcast appearance.

On the “Just Trish” podcast hosted by internet personality Trisha Paytas, when asked if she ever experimented with weight loss drugs like Ozempic, the singer said she’s “tried everything.”

“It’s just the science for me: calories in, versus calories out,” Lizzo said. “Ozempic works because you eat less food. That’s it. It makes you feel full. So if you can just do that on your own and get mind over matter, it’s the same.”

In a social media post back in September of 2024, Lizzo addressed rumors of her using Ozempic to lose weight and said she was only focusing on weight training and going on a calorie deficit to aid in her weight loss journey. She added that once she started cutting back on her vegan diet, she started to notice changes in her weight.

“When I was vegan, I was consuming a lot of fake meats, and I was eating a lot of bread. I was eating a lot of rice,” she said. “And I had to eat a lot of it to stay full. But really, I was consuming like 3,000 to 5,000 calories a day.”

She said eating more whole foods was a game-changer for her health because she wasn’t eating as many vegan products.
