‘This still hurts’: Kylie Kelce opens up about miscarriage before having daughters

(WJW) — Media personality Kylie Kelce became emotional on Thursday while opening up about her past miscarriage in 2018.

Since October is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month, the 33-year-old took to her “Not Gonna Lie” podcast to reflect on the devastating loss that she and her husband, former Philadelphia Eagles star and Northeast Ohio native Jason Kelce, experienced before the birth of their four children.

Kylie said she had her first positive pregnancy test in August of 2018.

“I went to appointments normally. I went to my six-week appointment and the baby was measuring what would have been a few days late,” she said. “They said, ‘it’s still within normal limits. We will see you back for your 12-week appointment.'”

Twelve weeks into the pregnancy, the couple decided to surprise Jason’s parents on a family trip “by pretending to take a photo and telling them that we were expecting,” Kylie said.

“When we were in Cleveland, we surprised Travis with little baby booties. All of these interactions were recorded for memory purposes,” she added.

When they got back from the family trip, she went to her appointment on Jason’s birthday.

“They tried to do the doppler … It felt like everything went into slow motion and they could not find the baby on the doppler. At 13 weeks, they should,” she continued.

Doctors took Kylie in for an ultrasound, confirming there was no heartbeat.

She went on to say that the miscarriage was hard for both of them and it “messed with” her mind through every pregnancy since.

“For Wyatt, we did not share that I was pregnant until after I was 20 weeks,” she said. “I Googled almost every week what the percentage likelihood was that a baby could survive.”

The couple has four daughters together: Wyatt, Elliotte, Bennett and Finnley. As FOX 8 previously reported, Finnley was born March 30 this year.

“This still hurts after having four children,” Kylie said, becoming emotional. “For people who are still in their journey and haven’t yet gotten over the hump of not getting to meet the tiny humans that you’re making, I’m so sorry.”
