Kiefer Sutherland arrested, accused of assaulting rideshare driver

(KTLA) – Actor Kiefer Sutherland was arrested for allegedly assaulting a rideshare driver in Hollywood.

On Jan. 12, officers with the Los Angeles Police Department responded to reports of an assault around 12:15 a.m. Following an investigation, police said Sutherland, 59, had reportedly entered a rideshare vehicle and physically assaulted the driver while making criminal threats. 

Sutherland was arrested at the scene. 

“The victim did not sustain any injuries requiring medical treatment at the scene,” authorities said.

Details on the motive or circumstances leading up to the violent confrontation were not released. Sutherland was later released on $50,000 bond. A court hearing is scheduled for Feb. 2. The incident remains under investigation by police detectives.

Sutherland, a two-time Emmy-winning actor, is best known for his role as Jack Bauer in the Fox television series “24.” He is also known for his iconic film roles in “Stand by Me,” The Lost Boys,” “Young Guns,” “A Few Good Men,” and more.
