(NewsNation) — Kevin Spacey has clarified reports that he’s homeless, calling the initial headline “misleading.”

In a video he posted on Instagram on Sunday, Spacey addressed the interview he gave to The Telegraph, in which he said he’s living in hotels and Airbnbs.

“I don’t usually make it my business to correct the media; if I did, I wouldn’t have time for much else,” he said. “But in light of the recent articles claiming I am homeless, I feel the need to respond.”

The “K-Pax” actor said that he’s speaking to “the thousands of people who have reached out over the past few days offering me a place to stay, or have just asked if I’m OK,” and not to clear the air for the press.

“And to all of you, let me first say that I am truly touched by your generosity, full stop,” he added. “But I feel it would be disingenuous of me to allow you to believe that I am indeed homeless in the colloquial sense.”

Kevin Spacey says he lost his Baltimore house

Spacey told The Telegraph that he’s living in hotels and Airbnbs after his $5.6 million Baltimore home was auctioned off in 2024, saying that he lost his house “because the costs over these last seven years have been astronomical.”

“I’ve had very little coming in and everything going out,” Spacey said.

“You get through it. In weird ways, I feel I’m back to where I first started, which is I just went where the work was,” adding, “I literally have no home.”

Kevin Spacey: I wasn’t comparing myself to people living on the street

He continued, “I’ve been working nearly non-stop this entire year, and for that, I have so much to be grateful for. And there are many people, as we all know, who are indeed actually living on the streets, or in their cars, or in terrible financial situations, and my heart goes out to them.”

He said the article made it “clear” that he wasn’t like people living on the streets and that he wasn’t “trying to say” he was.

Kevin Spacey accused of sexual misconduct

Spacey was one of multiple high-profile men accused of sexual harassment, assault and other types of sexual misconduct during the height of the MeToo movement.

Broadway actor Anthony Rapp accused Spacey of molesting him in 1986 when he was 14 years old.

In 2022, after Rapp sued him for $40 million in a civil case, a London jury found Spacey not liable.

Spacey was also acquitted by a London jury in 2023 after four men accused him of sexual assault between 2004 and 2013, when he was the artistic director at the Old Vic theatre in London.

In an interview last year with NewsNation’s Chris Cuomo, Spacey said “honest journalism” was needed for his redemption. “I have to work very hard at rebuilding the trust that some may have lost in me. … I have, in fact, listened. I am ready to move forward. … I want to prove that I’m a man of great character. The responsibility for that is mine.”
