(NewsNation) — Kelly Clarkson returned to her talk show Monday, the first time since ex-husband Brandon Blackstock died of cancer.

Blackstock died on Aug. 7 at the age of 48 of melanoma, a form of skin cancer. He had two children with Clarkson: daughter River, 10, and son Remy, 9.

The Kelly Clarkson Show” began its seventh season as normal Monday, with the host not addressing Blackstock’s death.

Actress Margot Robbie and actor Colin Farrell both appeared on the show as well as heroes from the Texas floods in July.

NewsNation’s Paula Froelich reported that Clarkson missed 10 consecutive tapings of her talk show, with initial rumors stating she was feeling overwhelmed, but it was because Blackstock was sick at the time, and she took their children to see him.

Blackstock was a music manager (including hers) until recent years when he stopped working for Starstruck Entertainment, the company his father, Narvel Blackstock, founded.

After Clarkson filed for divorce on June 4, 2020, there was a protracted, two-year custody and spousal support battle that ended in 2022.

NewsNation’s Paula Froelich contributed to this report.
