(NewsNation) — Singer Kelly Clarkson revealed to a crowd at her Las Vegas show that the reason she doesn’t date is because it’s hard.

“Dating can be very difficult, which is why I don’t,” she told the crowd during her “Studio Sessions” residency show Sunday. Her comments were shared on TikTok.

The “American Idol” winner was last publicly linked to now ex-husband Brandon Blackstock, whom she was married to for seven years. Clarkson and Blackstock, who share two kids — daughter River Rose, 11, and son Remington “Remy,” 9 — finalized their divorce in 2022.

During her residency show, the talk show host said that the added spotlight makes dating even harder, likening it to a “dumpster fire.”

Clarkson’s comments aren’t the first time she’s expressed her lack of interest in dating and why it’s not for her.

During an Instagram Live in 2023, Clarkson said she probably wouldn’t date for a while because she enjoys being single.

“Do I have a boyfriend? No! And not looking. You know why? I love being single,” she said, according to Page Six.

In 2024, she told People magazine that she’s “really good” at being single and told a friend of hers that any future partner of hers “would have to be an individual that brings their own life to the table without needing anything from me.”

The “Since U Been Gone” singer’s residency at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace runs until Nov. 15, and her eponymous talk show returns this fall.
