(NewsNation) — Kelly Clarkson’s talk show will air as planned following the death of her ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock.

Production for Season 7 of “The Kelly Clarkson Show” will begin in September as initially scheduled, according to Deadline.

The news comes after Blackstock, 48, who also served as Clarkson’s talent manager, died Aug. 7 of melanoma, a form of skin cancer.

A day before Blackstock’s death, Clarkson postponed the remainder of her Las Vegas residency “to be fully present” for her children, announcing at the time that her ex was ill.

Kelly Clarkson absent from tapings

Earlier this year, NewsNation’s Paula Froelich reported that Clarkson missed 10 consecutive tapings of her talk show, with initial rumors stating she was feeling overwhelmed, but it was because Blackstock was sick at the time, and she took their children to see him.

Clarkson is also planning to return to “The Voice” this week as the show is in production for Season 29 of the show, which will likely air next year.

A Deadline source revealed that the “Behind These Hazel Eyes” singer missed one shoot of NBC’s music competition series due to Blackstock’s death. Fellow “American Idol” alum Jennifer Hudson filled in for Clarkson.
