(NewsNation) — Word in Los Angeles is that former VP Kamala Harris and her hubby, legal eagle Doug Emhoff, are done with Brentwood.
A well-placed source in LA told me the two have dropped $10 million on a house in Malibu, near Zuma Beach.
”He bills $2,000 an hour (as a lawyer), and she has a best-selling book and is making a lot of money for speaking engagements,” my source said. “They can afford it.”
Harris’ book, “107 Days,” about her ill-fated run for president, hit the New York Times bestseller list and is still selling well four months later.
The couple had previously lived in a 3,500 square foot home in Brentwood that Emhoff bought in 2012 for $2.7 million, two years before he married Harris. The four-bed home is now worth $4.7 million, but the couple has been wary of its location due to security and wildfires. During 2019’s Getty Fire and last year’s Palisades Fire, the area had to be evacuated. While the house was unharmed during both fires, last year, KTLA reported two people had been detained for what was suspected to be a burglary attempt at the property during curfew hours—they were eventually released by the police for lack of evidence.
An agent and Publisher for Harris didn’t return emails.
