(NewsNation) — Justin Bieber has made a public comment weeks after his mother Pattie Mallette said that she wishes he would heal.

Last month, Mallette posted on Instagram a series of photos of Bieber, writing, “We’re cheering you on and praying for you always Justin. I declare freedom, strength, clarity, and healing over you Justin.”

She added, “Every chain of fear, confusion, heaviness, and pain — be broken in Jesus’ name. Holy Spirit, surround him with TRUTH, LIGHT, and PROTECTION. HEAL EVERY WOUND in his heart, mind and body, seen and unseen, restore what’s been stolen, and cover him in WHOLENESS.”

Under his mom’s post, the “Swag” singer wrote, “Only thing I need healing from is my rolled pinky toe from playing ping pong.”

Justin Bieber’s past drug use

While it’s unclear what Malette is saying her son needs to be healed from, Bieber has been open about his past struggles, including substance use.

In his YouTube docuseries “Seasons,” Bieber revealed he smoked marijuana for the first time at 13 years old, which he started to depend on, according to E! News.

He also said his drug use evolved into more lethal substances. “There was a time when I was sipping lean, popping pills, doing Molly, shrooms, everything,” describing it as an “escape.”

Justin Bieber’s rumored financial troubles

The “Beauty and a Beat” singer had been “depressed and angry” ever since discovering financial discrepancies tied to former friends and longtime associates, NewsNation’s Paul Froelich reported in February.

“There are a lot of discrepancies in his books — he has a new accounting and management team, and they are finding out a lot … and there’s a lot missing,” a music industry insider said.

The singer was once worth over $500 million, but according to Froelich, his wife, Hailey Bieber, is now bringing in the money.

In May, she sold the beauty line she founded just three years ago, Rhode, for $1 billion to e.l.f. Cosmetics.
