(NewsNation) — “It Ends With Us” actress Isabela Ferrer has accused her former director, Justin Baldoni, of “harassing” her through subpoenas.
According to People magazine, Baldoni has requested Ferrer’s communications relating to his legal fight with co-star Blake Lively.
In the film, Ferrer plays the younger version of Lively’s character, Lily Bloom.
Lively has sued Baldoni for sexual harassment, accusing him of creating a hostile work environment on the set.
On Aug. 12, Baldoni’s team filed a motion saying Ferrer had been unreachable and was unresponsive to their requests.
Isabela Ferrer refutes Justin Baldoni’s subpoenas
Ferrer, 24, said Baldoni has “engaged in bad faith tactics” and that he filed the motion “for improper purposes and with the aim of harassing” Ferrer, according to People.
Ferrer said she approached Baldoni’s company, Wayfarer Studios, to help cover her legal costs, which she believed her contract required. She said Wayfarer would only pay if she were to “surrender control” of her response to Lively’s subpoena addressing claims made in Baldoni’s countersuit, according to The Independent.
Ferrer’s team said the production company had not only failed to honor its obligations to pay her fees, but that Baldoni’s request didn’t allow her to “provide the documents that reveal the true facts,” People reported.
“From that point forward, Baldoni has tried to manipulate, threaten, control and otherwise act inappropriately towards Ms. Ferrer,” her lawyers claimed.
Justin Baldoni says Blake Lively got cast to ‘shun’ him
In January, Baldoni filed a $400 million countersuit against Lively and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, in which he claimed the couple were attempting to defame him.
He accused Lively of convincing the film’s cast members to “shun” him “in an early attempt to give fans the impression that Baldoni had committed an egregious sin,” according to People.
Baldoni’s countersuit reportedly included texts from Ferrer thanking him “for an incredible experience” on the film.
“You are such a wonderful, smart and sincere director and you created such a comfortable, safe space for me to feel like I could fully step into this role,” she wrote, according to the lawsuit. “I couldn’t have asked for a more welcoming environment. It will stay with me for the rest of my life!!”
Much of the cast reportedly unfollowed Baldoni on social media during the film’s press run.
Baldoni’s lawsuit was thrown out in June by the judge presiding over the case.
