(NewsNation) — Jennifer Lopez isn’t quite ready to go into details about her divorce from Ben Affleck.
Lopez, 56, dropped by “Today” on Monday morning during her promotional tour for her upcoming movie musical “Kiss of the Spider Woman,” when Craig Melvin asked her about her ex’s role in the film.
“In the middle of filming this elaborate, beautiful musical, your divorce was also finalized with Ben,” Melvin asked Lopez, who cut him off, saying, “There you go! Look at this guy!”
In a clip shared on Instagram, the “Today” anchor then explained why he asked the “Jenny from the Block” singer about Affleck.

“But then I read that your ex is an executive producer on the film,” Melvin said.
“If it wasn’t for Ben, the movie wouldn’t have gotten made,” a laughing Lopez said. “And I will always give him that credit.”
As for her attitude toward the divorce, she added, “And yeah, things happen, you have to keep going.”
Jennifer Lopez felt ‘not great’ going home amid divorce
In an interview with “CBS Sunday Morning” in September, Lopez opened up about how hard it was for her to go through her marriage falling apart while filming the movie.
The movie wrapped production two months before she filed for divorce from Affleck in August 2024, according to USA Today.
“Barely. It was tough. It was a tough time,” Lopez said when asked how she managed the personal changes in her life at the time, adding that making the movie helped, providing a refuge for her.
“It was the best and the worst of times,” she said. “Every moment on set, and every moment I was doing this role, I was so happy. And then back home, it was not great. It was like, ‘Oh, how do I reconcile this?’”
The “Jenny from the Block” singer and the “Argo” director married in July 2022, reuniting nearly 20 years after their highly publicized relationship and engagement ended.
Affleck and Lopez finalized their divorce in February 2025.
