Hulk Hogan, Roddy Piper fight over Mr. T debunked by historian

(NewsNation) — A rumor that the late wrestler Hulk Hogan confronted Roddy Piper, breaking a mirror, for injuring Mr. T has been debunked.

Wrestling historian Dave Meltzer shot down the story shared by Mr. T’s daughter, Erica Nicole Clark, during a recent stand-up comedy bit, according to Wrestling Noticias.

In a video shared on Instagram, Clark recalled attending WrestleMania 1985 with her father, who was teaming up with Hogan against Piper, at which Piper flipped Mr. T, injuring his ribs and requiring a trip to the emergency room.

Clark said her father returned to the hotel room “all bandaged up.”

She alleged Hogan was also in their hotel room — “doing, like, lines of cocaine” — and was incensed over the injury and threatened to fight Piper when he saw him.

According to Clark, Piper showed up to apologize, but Hogan didn’t accept the apology. She said he grabbed Piper and threw him against a wall, smashing a mirror and starting an all-out brawl.

Historian: Mr. T and Roddy Piper had real-life tension

Meltzer told Wrestling Observer Radio that the story isn’t true and that such a confrontation would not have been possible to keep secret for decades.

“Piper’s written books — he’s talked about it over and over and over again. Hogan has talked about things over and over and over again,” he said. “The few physical confrontations Hogan had are super, super, super well known.”

While Meltzer acknowledged Piper and Mr. T had issues outside the ring, he said Clark’s story doesn’t align with the facts.

“I mean, she was in the room — I wasn’t in the room. I can’t say it didn’t happen,” he said. “But I’ve never heard it. She might believe it… but it doesn’t hold up.”
