(NewsNation) — Jennifer Lopez joined Howard Stern on his radio talk show for the first time Wednesday despite critical comments he has made about her appearance and singing over the years.
During the interview, Lopez acknowledged she “was always scared to come on the show” but clarified it was because she was concerned she might “say something” she’d regret. The revelation came as a surprise to listeners, as many believed the pair had a contentious relationship as a result of Stern’s comments dating back to the early 2000s.
The Daily Mail reports Stern previously described Lopez as “the worst judge out there” during her time on “American Idol” and called her relationship with Ben Affleck “ridiculous but real.” In addition, Stern has reportedly described her singing as sounding like karaoke, some of her outfit choices as looking like “a potato sack” and even questioned her mental stability.
Lopez and Stern went on to discuss the release of her new movie “Kiss if the Spider Woman” as well as her divorce from Ben Affleck in 2024.
“I wanted to share my life with someone. I want someone to be there to share my big, important moments on the red carpet,” Lopez said. “So I didn’t hide from it. And I spoke about it. And I think now, after what’s happened in the past few years to me and to my children, I feel like … I just want to keep that part so much more quiet in my life.”
