(NewsNation) — Bostonians are offended after celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay made over a local restaurant and hung pictures of notorious mobsters on the walls.

The Savin Bar + Kitchen in the city’s Dorchester neighborhood was featured on Ramsay’s “Secret Service” show, where he made over the restaurant to give it a new identity.

That identity includes a vintage vibe and mugshots of gangsters James “Whitey” Bulger and his partner in crime, Stephen “The Rifleman” Flemmi, hanging in the entryway.

Bulger is now deceased and Flemmi is serving life behind bars, but the photos have stirred up controversy in the neighborhood.

Residents have objected to what they see as the glorification of the mobsters and the seedier elements of Boston’s history.

The outrage is compounded by the fact that the building used to hold a bar owned by Eddie Connors, one of Bulger and Flemmi’s victims, who was shot to death in a phone booth.

The change in decor has resulted in staff being confronted by angry residents who want the photos gone.

But so far the owners aren’t taking them down and posted a letter next to Bulger’s photo, saying they are not glorifying the mobsters but acknowledging the area’s past.
