(NewsNation) — The home that Jeffrey Epstein’s madame had been hiding out in when she was arrested by the FBI in 2020 is up for sale.
An anonymous LLC, linked to Ghislaine Maxwell, listed the 5,115 square-foot home, located at 338 East Washington Rd., in Bradford, New Hampshire, for $2.5 million — a whopping $1 million more than the anonymous LLC paid for it in December 2019.
“If the house is being sold, who gets the money? If it’s Ghisaline’s LLC — is it going to her legal fees or is it going to the victims, as it should?” a source told me.
According to the listing on Redfin, the 4 bed, 3.5 bath home, “is truly one of the most remarkable homes on the market…. Set on 156 very private acres with gorgeous views of local hills and distant mountains. This estate is a hunter, farmer, horse lover, hiker, privacy lover’s dream.”
The main home has “a Timber Frame built by premier builders Old Hampshire Design Firm and .. and consists of a gorgeous Great Room with stunning fieldstone fireplace as the focal point, with floor to ceiling windows overlooking a stone patio and views, and on the other side a covered porch with views of feature gardens with waterfall and pond.
“An open concept design expands to a lovely dining area, eat in kitchen and cozy sun room with woodstove. All have 360 degree views of the beauty of nature. A second story bedroom and bath allows for a private retreat for your guests and a loft on the opposite side can be either a bedroom or office space. The first floor master bedroom features a stone fireplace, walk in closet, and large bath with soaking tub and tile shower.”
The second home on the property “is a beautiful 1800s cape with barn, fireplaced greatroom, kitchen, full bath, cozy living room and two bedrooms. To complete this amazing offering is a workshop, full equipment garage, lovely fields, walking trails and surrounded by conservation land.
The house was bought for just over $1 million in December of 2019 and was paid for in cash through a limited liability company, according to federal prosecutors.
“The buyer was anonymous,” a person familiar with the deal told NBC News.
“It was always this mystery woman,” the person added. “I was like, ‘Is she an actress?’”
“If you’re looking for a place to hide, boy, you can’t find a better one,” the NBC source said. “It’s a lovely house on a lot of turf and it’s up a driveway that’s a little bit more than half a mile long. Nobody comes up there to bug you or poke or pry.”
It is the home where Maxwell was hiding out with her husband Scott Borgerson, when the FBI took her into custody.
After the arrest, Borgerson filed for divorce and Maxwell was eventually convicted in December 2021 of five counts related to sex trafficking and conspiracy to commit sex trafficking with Jeffrey Epstein. She is currently serving a 20-year prison sentence in a low-security federal prison in Tallahassee, Florida.
She has appealed the ruling.
Her lawyer, Arthur Aidal, didn’t return calls for comment.
Maxwell and Borgerson also owned the Phippen-Smith house, a secluded waterfront mansion in Manchester-by-the-Sea, MA, which, after Maxwell’s arrest, Borgerson put on the market for $7.295 million, according to the Wall Street Journal.
