(NewsNation) — “General Hospital” actor Cameron Mathison is reflecting on the one-year anniversary of the Los Angeles wildfires that destroyed his home, among thousands of others.

Mathison took to Instagram Wednesday to share a video of the destruction that was left after his Altadena home was razed in the blaze.

The caption on the video was brief and poignant: “A year since the fire, loss changed us, love carried us.”

The “General Hospital” star’s ex-wife, Vanessa Mathison, commented under the video, saying, “I will be forever grieving this loss.”

The former couple, who share two children, son Lucas, 22 and 19-year-old daughter Leila, raised their family on the Altadena property, according to Parade.

Mathison told NewsNation’s Chris Cuomo days after the fire that the ordeal didn’t feel real.

“It seems very surreal,” he said. “It all seems very apocalyptic.”

Fewer than a dozen homes rebuilt

A year since the fire, fewer than a dozen homes have been rebuilt in Los Angeles County since the start of the Palisades and Eaton fires, which killed 31 people and destroyed around 13,000 homes and other residential properties, according to the Associated Press.

Many of the streets in Altadena and the Pacific Palisades sit on dirt lots, with any remaining homes empty due to issues clearing them of toxic contaminants, AP reported.
