LOS ANGELES (KTLA) — McDonald’s is spicing up its menu ahead of fall with the debut of a new sauce.

Starting Sept. 3, customers nationwide can try the chain’s new Special Edition Gold Sauce, described as a tangy blend of North Carolina-style vinegar barbecue with notes of honey, smoke, and mustard.

The sauce will be available on the side or featured on four chicken items.

Included in the lineup of items is the Special Edition Gold Snack Wrap, which includes McCrispy Strips, shredded cheese, lettuce, and the new sauce for $2.99.

McDonald’s is also rolling out two new sandwiches: the Bacon Special Edition Gold McCrispy and its Deluxe counterpart, both served on toasted potato rolls with applewood-smoked bacon. The Deluxe version adds lettuce and tomato.

For fans of the classic McCrispy Strips, the Gold Sauce can be ordered on the side for dipping.

McDonald’s said the rollout is designed to “make every moment as gold as it gets” as summer winds down.

The sauce will be available at participating restaurants nationwide while supplies last.
