(NewsNation) — Aubrey O’Day, former Danity Kane member, has released a statement on Sean “Diddy” Combs’ trial.

Who is Aubrey O’Day?

O’Day, 41, was a former member of the band created by Diddy, Danity Kane. She was allegedly removed from the band by Diddy in 2008. O’Day spoke out after Diddy’s children supported him in court.

“The fact that the kids are marching up to that court,” O’Day said on her podcast. “I don’t know any father that would want their children to sit through (that kind of) testimony.” She also said that she believed Combs was “being selfish” but having his kids in the courtroom.

“In my opinion, it feels like ‘Daddy needs you in court because Daddy needs all the optics to look in his favor.'”

Aubrey O’Day calls Diddy trial ‘bittersweet’

Even though former member Dawn Richard was called to testify, O’Day has not been. O’Day said that the trial has been “bittersweet for me, as I’ve been speaking the truth about Diddy for 20 years now.”

On her podcast saga, “Amy Robach & T.J. Holmes Present: Aubrey O’Day, Covering the Diddy Trial,” she said that this trial will let her heal almost two decades after Combs reportedly removed her from Danity Kane, according to PEOPLE.

“This podcast is the first step in reclaiming my voice and career that I was robbed of when I was abruptly fired from my band in order to appear discredited,” she said.

She did confirm that she wouldn’t be testifying against him in the first episode of her podcast series. She reportedly revealed that she “was contacted by Homeland Security” and had a meeting with the agency.

“I posted on my Instagram that I was here in New York and enjoying myself because I wanted to make it clear to everyone that I am not here testifying,” O’Day further clarified, referencing social media posts she shared that caused speculation among fans.

What has Aubrey O’Day said about Diddy’s allegations?

In 2024, PEOPLE interviewed O’Day, and she said she didn’t “feel vindicated at all” by the allegations against Combs.

“There’s no vindication when you’re a victim of someone… Anyone being exposed, or any truths being told, don’t change the reality of what you experienced,” she reportedly said. She added:

“It’s a forever thing that you have to wake up every day and choose to evolve past. It doesn’t go away. It’s like childhood trauma. We don’t like to think it just disappears in our thirties, but really we start realizing how bad it really is in our thirties.”

O’Day also spoke about Combs’ alleged victims, saying, “My heart goes out to all the victims, especially those who could have been spared, had anyone taken these claims seriously prior.”
