(NewsNation) — Music artist D4vd is considered a suspect regarding the death of California teenager Celeste Rivas Hernandez, according to NBC Los Angeles.

Rivas Hernandez was laid to rest by her family last month after police discovered her body Sept. 8 in a Tesla that belonged to D4vd, whose legal name is David Anthony Burke.

NBC LA reported police said Burke has not been cooperative with authorities and “D4vd likely had help in dismembering and disposing of the body.”

Citing a law enforcement source, TMZ reported Rivas Hernandez’s death is being viewed as a homicide, though a cause of death has yet to be determined by the medical examiner.

“Investigators are looking at D4vd as a suspect,” TMZ’s source said. The news comes a day after the outlet reported an arrest was “nowhere imminent.”

Questions have swirled about Burke’s relationship with Rivas Hernandez, with some pointing to alleged matching tattoos, song titles and comments from friends.

Friends of the singer “frequently” saw the pair together and believed they “were romantically involved,” TMZ senior news reporter Charlie Neff told NewsNation in September.

Burke was on tour when he was contacted by police, who told him a decomposing body was found in his car. The singer canceled the rest of his tour amid an investigation into Rivas Hernandez’s death.
