(NewsNation) — “Saturday Night Live” is going to have a “Titanic”-sized “iceberg” in it, as Bowen Yang is leaving the show in the middle of the current season, Deadline reports.

Yang will reportedly leave after Saturday’s show, where his “Wicked” co-star Ariana Grande is set to host and Cher is set to perform.

The “Las Culturistas” host joined “SNL” as a writer in 2018, during the show’s 44th season, joined the cast the next season, and was made a full-time cast member ahead of season 47.

The comedian said in September that he had been speaking to the show’s creator, Lorne Michaels, about leaving the show.

“Lorne was like, ‘You have more to do,’ and that means a lot, because I even confessed to him… ‘I feel the audience is maybe getting sick of me.’ And he was like, ‘That’s not true. There’s more for you to do. I need you,’” Yang told People magazine.

Bowen Yang latest ‘SNL’ departure

Yang’s departure is the latest in the string of “SNL” stars leaving the show this year.

Ego Nwodim, Heidi Gardner, Devon Walker and Emil Wakim all exited the show before its 51st season.

This followed Michael’s warning this summer that there would be a cast shakeup before the current season aired.
