(NewsNation) — An investigation has been launched after a body was found in a car belonging to singer D4vd, known for his viral songs on TikTok.

Here’s what is known about the case so far.

Body found

Sept. 8: Responding to complaints of a foul odor, the Los Angeles Police Department discovered a dismembered body in the trunk of an impounded Tesla.

The body was wrapped in plastic, and authorities said they believed it was placed in the trunk about five days before the vehicle was impounded from a Hollywood Hills neighborhood.

The Tesla was quickly identified as belonging to D4vd, whose legal name is David Anthony Burke.

Victim identified as Celeste Rivas

Sept. 17: Authorities used forensics to identify the decomposing body as that of Celeste Rivas.

Rivas was reported missing from Lake Elsinore, California, in April of 2024.

Rivas had a tattoo on her finger that read “Shhh…”, and D4vd reportedly has the same tattoo on his finger.

D4vd’s house searched

Sept. 18: Sources say D4vd’s house was searched overnight, and items, including a computer, were seen being taken by detectives.

Concert canceled

Sept. 18: After the discovery, D4vd continued his tour but canceled a show in Seattle.
