(NewsNation) —The world’s most popular YouTuber apparently has no money in his account, despite being a multibillionaire.

MrBeast—real name Jimmy Donaldson— spoke to the Wall Street Journal and opened up about his finances.

“It’s funny talking about my personal finances, because no one ever believes anything I say,” Donaldson told The Wall Street Journal in an interview published Jan. 2. “They’re like, ‘You’re a billionaire!’ I’m like, ‘That’s net worth.’ I have negative money right now.”

Donaldson owns half of his business, Beast Industries, valued at around $5 billion, estimating his net worth at $2.6 billion, according to Fortune, telling the outlet that he doesn’t have enough money in his account to even buy fast food.

“I’m so busy working, I don’t really think about my personal bank account,” Donaldson, 27, told WSJ.

“I’m borrowing money. That’s how little money I have. Technically, everyone watching this video has more money than me in their bank account if you subtract the equity value of my company, which doesn’t buy me McDonald’s in the morning.”

MrBeast’s entertainment empire

With 460 million followers, MrBeast is the most followed person on YouTube.

Fans of the content creator have seen him give away money to fans and strangers and has launched challenges, including the “Beast Games,” inspired by “Squid Game,” with the winner taking home $10 million last year.

Donaldson said that he often reinvests money that he earns back into his company.

Beast Industries has made efforts to curb unnecessary spending after its media division experienced a $100 million loss in 2024, Business Insider reported.
