Less than half of Americans approve of Latin pop star Bad Bunny serving as the entertainer during next year’s Super Bowl halftime show, while the rest either disprove or are agnostic about his selection.

A new Quinnipiac poll released on Monday found 48 percent of respondents expressed support of Bad Bunny, while while 29 percent said they disapprove and 24 percent did not offer an opinion on the matter.

The poll fell sharply along partisan lines, with 74 percent of Democrats expressing approval and 63 percent of Republicans indicating they did not approve of the upcoming performance.

One of the most popular singer-songwriters in the world, Bad Bunny was announced last month as the performer for Super Bowl LX in February, a move that has angered some conservatives given many of the Puerto Rican artist’s songs are not in English.

Bad Bunny has said he will not tour in the mainland U.S. over concerns his concerts could be targeted by federal immigration authorities.

The conservative activism organization Turning Point USA has announced plans for an alternative halftime show, while a petition to replace Bad Bunny with country music star George Strait has garnered tens of thousands of signatures.

The Quinnipiac poll was conducted Oct. 16-20 among 1,500 adults with a margin of error of 3 percentage points.
