SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — “Call Her Daddy” podcaster Alex Cooper, popular Bay Area social media influencer “otakoyakisoba” and other prominent social media personalities have joined the conversation about the ongoing drama at Kis Cafe.

Kis Cafe under fire

The San Francisco wine bar is under fire after TikTok user @itskarlabb shared her side of an allegedly uncomfortable encounter with the restaurant’s head chef Luke Sung on Wednesday. According to the local, self-described “micro–influencer,” Sung belittled her publicly for her once-modest social media presence and suggested that the restaurant cancel its plans to host her for a “collaboration.”

Her TikTok post about the ordeal quickly went viral, receiving more than 19 million views. The restaurant was bombarded by negative reviews in response to the viral video and Sung, a prominent Bay Area chef, was fired over the encounter, the restaurant announced. Itskarlabb’s following, meanwhile, grew from 15,000 to 335,000 followers in three days.

Kis Cafe has since announced on social media that it has temporarily closed and is “restructuring after these events.” NewsNation affiliate KRON has reached out to @itskarlabb and Kis Cafe in response to the internet drama, but has not received a response.
