SACRAMENTO, Calif. (NewsNation) — Detectives investigating the man accused of shooting up an ABC news station in Sacramento found a note in his car that named members of Donald Trump’s administration, prosecutors say.
Anibal Hernandez Santana was arrested Friday after allegedly firing four shots at KXTV/ABC 10’s new station. When police raided his home and car, they found multiple notes that appeared to be tied to the shooting.
Hernandez Santana had a weekly planner on his fridge with the message “do the next scary thing” written under Friday, the same day of the shooting, prosecutors said.
Investigators also found a handwritten note in his car that said, “For hiding Epstein & ignoring red flags. Do not support Patel, Bongino, & AG Pam Bondi. They’re next. – C.K. from above.”
ABC news station hit by bullets
Hernandez Santana fired one shot into the air in the direction of the station Friday, then drove to the front of the building and fired three shots into KXTV’s lobby, according to the Department of Justice.
Nobody was hurt in the shooting and photos showed at least three bullet holes in a window at the news station.
Police arrested Hernandez Santana on Friday on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and shooting into an occupied building. He was released hours later on $200,000 bail.
Hernandez Santana was rearrested Saturday night by the FBI and will also face federal charges related to interfering with federally licensed stations.
His defense attorney, Mark Reichel, said Hernandez Santana would plead not guilty in both cases when he’s arraigned on the federal charges Monday afternoon and in state court Tuesday.
ABC, which is owned by Disney, has found itself at the center of recent controversy after a monologue from late-night host Jimmy Kimmel addressed the fatal shooting of Charlie Kirk in what some deemed to be an inappropriate light.
